If your family lives in Peel Region or nearby communities like Brampton, Mississauga, Caledon, Toronto, Oakville, Etobicoke, Port Credit, Halton Hills, North York, or Ajax, this guide is for you. It gives a clear overview of childhood vaccines, how the schedule works in Ontario, and how Peel Pediatrics can support your family.
Why Childhood Vaccines Matter
Childhood vaccines help your child’s immune system learn to fight dangerous infections before they ever come into contact with them. Diseases like measles, whooping cough, and meningitis can lead to hospital stays, long-term health problems, and, in rare cases, death. Vaccines dramatically lower those risks for both your child and the community.
When enough children are vaccinated, germs have a much harder time spreading. This “community protection” helps shield newborns, children with weak immune systems, and others who cannot be fully vaccinated.
Where to Get Your Child Vaccinated in Peel Region
Family doctors and pediatric clinics
Most families get routine vaccines through their family doctor or pediatrician. If your child is already followed at Peel Pediatrics or another clinic, you can ask to review the vaccine schedule and book appointments around the recommended ages.
Public health vaccine clinics and school programs
If you don’t have an appointment with a doctor, vaccines are also available through Peel Public Health. In Peel Region, children can be vaccinated: Peel Region+1

Children who don’t have a family doctor
If your child does not have a regular doctor, you can:
-
Contact Peel Public Health to ask about vaccine clinic options
-
Consider registering with a local family practice or pediatrician accepting new patients
-
Use provincial resources to search for primary care providers in your area
Staying connected to a regular health care provider makes it easier to keep track of your child’s full health, not just vaccines.
